SkyBox Engineering (SBE) is revolutionizing passenger and cargo air transport with innovative aerodynamics. Through years of research, the PrandtlPlane® architecture offers a boxwing aircraft that combines safety, environmental sustainability, and outstanding performance.
Ludwig Prandtl has demonstrated in 1924 that the wing system with minimum induced drag for given lift and wingspan is box-shaped with equal lift on the two horizontal wings and butterfly shaped on the vertical wings. The aircraft architecture has been named PrandtlPlane® in honor of Ludwig Prandtl, one of the fathers of moder aerodynamics who first published in 1924 the concept of the Best Wing System (BWS)
The PrandtlPlane® can: Improve the efficiency of air transport, reducing the environmental impact and costs of aviation
The PrandtlPlane® concept is scalable to a large set of applications: UAV or drones for surveillance and rescue, PAV, ULM, eVTOL, STOL, amphibious, freighters, airliners, with enhanced performances.

Engineering excellence, Italian passion: crafting innovative solutions that take flight and inspire the world
The extreme flexibility of the PrandtlPlane® permitted to design IDINTOS, a 2-seats amphibious airplane for leisure time. The airplane has been designed according to the EASA CS-VLA (Very Light Aircraft) specification, and a full scale prototype together with a 1:3 scaled radio controlled flying model have been built and tested.
The scalability of the PrandtlPlane® has been demonstrated during the PARSIFAL project. funded by the EU under H2020 program, is set to offer a leap forward in both efficiency and capacity. By leveraging the box-wing design, PARSIFAL envisions aircraft that are more spacious, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective to operate.
A 9-seats FAR part 23 PrandtlPlane® show a +15% in aerodynamic efficiency compared to the top class reference aircraft. This AIR TAXI means lower consumption, higher range, less noise. The high efficiency is an enabler for the future aviation of this class of aircraft with hybrid-electric propulsion.
